The history of Laksela dates back to 1966, when a humble shop was established in Kiribathgoda by the Late Mr. U. B. Weerakoon, who arrived from Menikhinna, Kandy. With dedication, hard work, and strong family values, he began building a business that would later become a trusted name in the region.
Together with his beloved wife, the Late Mrs. A.M.H Weerakoon, Mr. Weerakoon tirelessly developed the enterprise, offering a wide range of quality consumer goods. What began as a small local shop gradually expanded its reach beyond Kiribathgoda to serve the entire Siyane Korale area within the Gampaha District. Their commitment to customer satisfaction, integrity, and community service became the foundation of Laksela’s enduring success.
In the early 2000s, after completing his academic education, Mr. Tissa Weerakoon joined his father in managing the business and later assumed full leadership. Bringing a modern and professional approach, he worked alongside his wife, Mrs. Nimali Weerakoon, to transform and rebrand the company from Laksela Trade Centre to Laksela Lifestyle (Pvt) Limited. This marked a new era of growth, supported by the introduction of structured management practices and professional expertise.
Under the leadership of Mr. Tissa Weerakoon, Managing Director, Laksela Lifestyle experienced significant expansion. One of the most notable milestones was the construction of a landmark seven-story building in the heart of Kiribathgoda town, reflecting the company’s vision for the future.
